Baby Elk and Its Mama (Wyoming)

Yellowstone National Park. This cute little guy was right on the side of the road. Unfortunately we were on the opposite side, so I zoomed in to the max to snag this shot. We were also driving slowly down the road, so maybe that’s why the picture is so blurry. (Okay, I’ll quit making excuses….

Yellowstone National Park. This big ol’ bison was slurping up muddy, seeping thermal water. Each time after doing that, he would lick his nostrils. You would be alarmed at how deep the tongue went into the nostril. He also had a tendency to yawn.

Yellowstone National Park. This dude was clopping down the road. Bison commonly cause traffic jams in YNP. It’s worth it the first few times, but if you’re there a whole summer, you’ll know what I mean by “boring”. 😛 The proud guys think they own the roads. And everything else.

National Elk Refuge, Jackson Hole, Wyoming. These guys weren’t exactly cute, and they also weren’t the type of bighorn sheep we were used to seeing. I actually thought they were Dall’s sheep at first, haha. 😏 But when we went home, I looked in a field guide and discovered that no, they weren’t Dall’s sheep….
