Grizzly 399! (Wyoming)
Yellowstone National Park. Grizzly 399! Blurry picture, furry bear. This was super cool, especially noting the fact that she got hit by a car and died only four months later.

Paicines, California. This big guy would find an acorn, and then he’d go sit on a stump to eat it. He was, as you can see, extremely fat. (I wonder if the people who were in our site before we were fed him. đ˛ đ¤Ł) Actually, though, he earned it, because he was hard at…
National Elk Refuge, Jackson Hole, Wyoming. These guys weren’t exactly cute, and they also weren’t the type of bighorn sheep we were used to seeing. I actually thought they were Dall’s sheep at first, haha. đ But when we went home, I looked in a field guide and discovered that no, they weren’t Dall’s sheep….
Canyonlands National Park. This cute critter was skittering about, so I caught it. There’s not much to say about it, except that there’s not much to say about it. (This lizard is a Western Fence Lizard. They can grow to be eight inches long. There are 11 species of lizards at Canyonlands, including the northern…
Yellowstone National Park. This little (or big) cutie pie was right outside our site in Grant Village, so I ran out and took a few pictures. I made sure to stay on the other side of the roadâwho knew?âit might be Feisty Frizzle and her baby! (See Feisty Frizzle, Critter Sightings.) The mama seemed a…
Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. We drove down this road in high hopes of seeing exactly this kind of thing. These black bears were so fun to watch, especially the adorable cub. It was extremely disappointing when the baby bear vanished down the other side of the hill.
Yellowstone National Park. This dude was clopping down the road. Bison commonly cause traffic jams in YNP. Itâs worth it the first few times, but if youâre there a whole summer, youâll know what I mean by âboringâ. đ The proud guys think they own the roads. And everything else.
Wow! Yâall saw 399?!? Big fan! Have you seen the documentary?
Yep! Itâs pretty cool.
